Snap Back to Reality

Okay, so here I am back in the blogging world after a short break.

What did I do on my break?  I've been doing a lot of praying.  And what did I do after I prayed?  I prayed some more.

Seriously, this week has been such an awesome week.  God has been speaking to me in many ways and I am excited as to what He holds for Cyndi and I.

I've been reading in the Book of Acts and been learning a ton but more on that in a bit.

Well, I just wanted to get back to posting and just say hey all!  By the way NUMBER 70!!!  I am going to through a huge celebration when we hit blog post number 100!

More to come on my thoughts and happenings tomorrow night!

Where'd Ya Go?

Seems to be the question in my blog world and so I thought I would post real quick.

Things have been absolutely crazy down here in Charleston with Cyndi and I.  Cyndi's parents were here this past weekend but so were our friends John Engler and Jamie Haag all the way from Midland, Michigan!

We had a great time with all of them and that is why I haven't been posting a lot of this weekend.
I have also decided that I am taking about a week or so break from blogging just to work on a few extra things, but I promise that by Friday February 29, 2008....I will have another post!

See you all soon!

Valentines Day

Well, I'm sure you have heard it a million times today...Happy Valentines Day.

Typically, I haven't really celebrated Valentines Day and I haven't really went into a whole lot of details why.  However, since being with Cyndi I have found reason to celebrate Valentines every day.

Valentines Day is one of those days in which we are reminded to celebrate and romance the ones we love.  But I personally believe that is everyday for me.  Everyday I wake up and I make sure I tell Cyndi, that I love her.  Every time I talk to her on the phone (whether or not I've just been with her) I tell her I love you.  You see I make a commitment everyday to tell everyone valuable in my life that  I love them.  But it doesn't just stop there.  Love is pointless if there is no action.  I believe the old dcTalk hymn "Love is a Verb."  A verb is a word that describes an action...so everyday I make my actions prove that I love Cyndi, my family, and my friends.

So remember this Valentines Day, it isn't about the flowers, the chocolates, or even the gifts...it's the little things that matter, the everyday actions that prove that you truly love someone.

Monday Morning Mind Dump (okay Monday afternoon)

Normally, I try to post my thoughts about Sunday on Monday Mornings but I had to go to Columbia this morning for a Jr. High Camp meeting!

Let me just say CAMP is going to be awesome this year!

So back to my thoughts from last night:
  • The challenge has been issued to both Middle Schoolers and High Schoolers...If you can get 15 Middle Schoolers coming to WAVES student ministry on a regular basis (we say 3 weeks in a row) we will throw a party for you guys...in which you will get to shave Andy's hair and we will be coloring my hair any color of your choice.   High Schoolers, the challenge is similar, yet the reward is different.  15 High Schoolers coming on a regular basis (3 weeks too) a lucky individual and 3 of his/her friends will be heading out for a night on the town, including awesome transportation, a great dinner, and fun entertainment.
  • We kicked off a series on the topic of sex...very very very uncomfortable for me!  However, the series started off well and is going to be a great series...this will challenge all of our students to hear God's Word on this important subject.
  • The game we played was amazing...I never knew water could shoot that far from a straw (thanks Josh B.)
  • My throat still hurts a bit from speaking last night.
  • I am excited about the surprise we have for the students next Sunday!
  • I'm really wanting to do some very creative extravagant things, and I actually think our next couple of series will show just how creative we can be!
Well, thats about it for now...going to go and start making some plans for Spring Break :)

You Have to Listen to This

Today, I bought two CD's (I know...shocker, since I typically download from iTunes).

Tonight I listened to Kirk Franklin's "The Fight of My Life."  This is by far one of my most favorite CD's by Kirk.  If you get a chance pick it up or download some songs from iTunes.

Super Bowl XLII (42 for those of you who don't read Roman numerals)

Last night was the BIGGEST GAME of the season for Football Fanz...and unfortunately my team was not playing.  As a matter of fact, I have never ever witnessed my Detroit Lions in a Super Bowl.  I can't even remember playoffs or better yet a winning season, at least I'm loyal...maybe NEXT YEAR.
So who was I rooting for last night?  GIANTS!  Why?  I hate the Patriots!  Seriously, if their is one NFL team that I absolutely despise its them.
Well, here are some of my highlights from the game...
  • It was a close game...no blow outs~ I love this!  This proves these are the two best teams this year.
  • GIANTS scored 1st!  Yeah, it was only 3pts but they put the numbers on the board!
  • I enjoyed screaming at the tv (with pure joy) every time a Patriot went down and was hurt...Josh & David Beam thought this was a little weird but it was fun!
  • Great Defensive game!
  • I love that the game left me on the edge of my seat the entire night...I even let Cameron and Whitney convince me to stay for the entire game.
  • The Half Time show sucked! - Ever since the whole Janet Jackson & Justin Timberlake situation, the Half Time show has just been awful!  NEXT YEAR bring Britney Spears on stage that will make for a great show.
  • Obviously there were some great commercials. Here are my favorites:

Monday Morning Mind Dump

Yesterday was such a great day!
Here are just a few highlights and thoughts from the day and our services:
  • The Worship team rocked! - they really practice hard and long and are trying to improve on being excellent in all that they do!
  • We had a ton of people serving!
  • Found out that we have about 41 volunteers just in our children's ministry.
  • We had an official count close to 150 in our two services.
  • I'm looking for more volunteers in our Student Ministry.  Not a huge time commitment, but seriously the most fun you will have all week!
  • Got to talk to Ben, a new guy to our church who is already jumping in and serving, about Jamaica a bit more...He works with a few Jamaicans and are trying to get them to come to church.  By the way, Ben is from the New England area...love the accent, hate the team!
  • I miss not having student ministry but we are back in full swing next week!
Okay, that about does it for my thoughts...I'm posting a completely separate blog about my thoughts of the SuperBowl game!

I want to begin a few series of blog posts but here's the kicker...

I want you blogheads out there to choose some of the topics. What do you want to read about? It can be serious, it can be funny! What can I encourage you with...let me know and for the next two months, at least once a week I will begin blogging about what you want!

I look forward to reading and posting!
